Per a co-workers suggestion, I'm trying out a Tonx coffee subscription. I got my sample pack this weekend:
Holy wow is that delicious coffee. I wasn't sure I would be able to tell the difference between "good" coffee and "great" coffee, but apparently I can.
Now to convince myself it's worth the subscription fee.

Tonx is fantastic. For a more expanded world view, try the Craft Coffee subscription. Awesome coffees from awesome roasters all the time.
How are you brewing these delicious cups?

I've been practicing with a pour-over, and I'm getting much better. Aside from an occasional weak cup (which I guess is my grinder setting?), I'm getting pretty consistently good cups from it.
My co-worker swears by his Aeropress, but I've had mixed results with mine. I still like it for iced coffee.

You aren't the one I was talking to about the brewmethods/aeropress last week are you? Sorry, terrible memory for screen names.
Edit: Yes, I'm pretty sure you are...

Hmm, I don't recall having a conversation about that last week...

Well it may have been the week before, or a different person, or I'm crazy. Or all three!
At any rate, here is the TL;DR: I swear by the Aeropress too, love my pourovers and Chemexes, and would be happy to help with any (coffee) troubles you might have, and offer brewmethods.com for your perusal. Not that I feel I'm better than anyone else, but I do work around pretentious coffee devices/beans/people all day and have done some fairly nerdy experiments...

Now that you mention that URL I do recall the conversation... I must need more coffee.
What is your preferred Aeropress technique?

Good to know I'm not quite as crazy as I thought.
I use an inverted Aeropress method with these parameters and a grind a bit coarser than a pourover: 14g coffee, 240g water (a full Aeropress), stir after 1:15m, flip over and press at 2:00m and finish pressing around 2:30m. I also have a reusable steel mesh filter that I use instead of the papers sometimes, lets more of the nice flavor oils through but makes a mellower, darker cup of coffee.

I tried your method this morning and it made a great cup of coffee, thanks! 14g coffee is a lot less than I was using, and 2:00 is a lot longer than I was letting it steep.

Yeah, I'm a bit strange that way. Most Aeropressers I know go to about 1:30m and use a bit finer grind. Really depends on the coffee how long you want to go. Cheers!
